'The Golden Girls' Betty White Passes Away at 99

Updated: Jan 3, 2022

The legendary actor, Betty White, died today at the age of 99.

Betty White was a worldwide treasure to all with her raunchiness, her jokes, and her smile. Her career span 8 decades in the Hollywood business. Starting in 1945-2019.

Betty White started in a variety special on television that would land her the title role of her own series, Life with Elizabeth. She would go on to guest star in many television shows before landing the role of Sue Ann Nivens in The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Sue Ann was a man crazy happy homemaker that kept us all laughing with each other episode.

Betty White would go on to have her own show after Mary Tyler Moore with The Betty White Show, where she featured celebrities with animals. The show lasted one season, but her love of animals lasted a lifetime.

Betty White then married her true love, Allen Ludden. The couple married in 1963 and he died in 1981, due to stomach cancer. Betty White has since missed him after all these years. She would say he was “the love of her life”.

Betty White would then go on to star in the hit iconic show, The Golden Girls. White played the naive and lovable Rose Nylund. If the world wasn't in love with her in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, she managed to make us all love her with all her St. Olaf stories.

Betty White would go on to play in The Proposal, Lake Placid, The Bold and the Beautiful, Hot in Cleveland, Young & Hungry, and Toy Story 4. She has guest starred in multiple shows like 30 Rock, Spongebob Squarepants, The Simpsons, Bones, and Family Guy.

I would not be a fan if I didn't mention her love for animals. Since White was a young child, she had a love for animals when her parents would bring home strays. In The Betty White Show, she got to show her love and affection to all the animals that appeared. When the show was cancelled, her love for animals didn't stop there. Betty White was on a member of the Board of Directors at the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association since 1974. Today, not only will the humans mourn for her but so will all the animals.

Betty White managed to outlive her cast members of two iconic shows, The Golden Girls and The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

It was hoped, by Betty White and the world, that she would live to 100, which is in 17 days on January 17th. Unfortunately, she did not. But we can still celebrate that day for her. I feel that is what she would’ve wanted. She always made us smile. She lived for laughter and love. We should do the same for her.

It is sad we have lost an icon. On the bright side, Betty White has always spoken fondly of her love, Allen Ludden, and how much she misses him. Now she can be with him again.

Betty, you turned the world on with your smile. Thank You For Being A Friend.

RIP Betty White 1922-2021.

May that angel rest in peace. I heard she passed in her own bed, with her full independence and cognitive abilities. She deserved it, she was such a saint.
